Forestry

The aerial photographs Eagle Digital Imaging provides are perfectly suited for forestry. In fact, forestry is one of our largest applications. There are several things that make our photos invaluable for use in the forestry industry:
Tree Counting and Identification
Our high-quality images have a high resolution so you are easily able to do tree counts, and even to identify a type of tree from the crown. Because we mosaic several smaller images together instead of using one large image (as in NAIP images), it looks like you are looking straight down on all parts of the large image at once. This allows you to see the crowns of trees even at the edges, where in most aerial photos those trees would look like they were laying down. For more information, please see the page.
Harvest Units
One especially common strategy for forestry companies is to have images taken of particular harvest units. Eagle's flexibility allows you to order - and pay for - only specific sites that may be scatted throughout your property. These images are GIS ready so they are helpful for planning, and they allow you to quickly display the acreage of a harvest unit.
Of course, if you would like to have your entire ownership photographed, we are also able to do that. This can be done as one piece if the areas are contiguous, or in sections. Section-centered images are very flexible and easy to use. This system also allows you to implement an imaging rotation that allows you to spread out the cost. For more information, please see our Forestry Brochure on the page.
Stereo Pairs
We are also able to provide digital or printed stereo pairs. These pairs allow you to easily see topographical features that might not show up on a flat image. These images can be printed for use with a stereoscope or can be used on a computer with onscreen stereo image viewing systems. For samples, please see the page.
Damage
When forest is damaged due to fire, storms or other calamities, we can help you get the information you need quickly. With our quick turnaround-time, we are able to take photos of your property as soon as the weather allows. Our rapid processing has the images in your hands fast to help you make management decisions right away. For more information about how we can help, please see the on the Informational Brochure page.
GIS Work
Forestry makes extensive use of GIS data, and is perfectly set up to use our images. They are GIS ready, so they integrate seamlessly into your workflow and applications. They are extremely accurate and can be used to plan and manage property in a way that ensures consistency and a more accurate picture of what is going on where.
Please explore the tabs in the upper left to learn more about how our images are taken, processed and used for forestry. You can view sample images, brochures, articles, and even request a printed copy of any of these materials. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your project, please contact us.
