About Us

Eagle Digital Imaging, Inc. was created to provide affordable custom aerial images that are GIS-ready. With our service, you are able to specify desired images and then receive digital images that have been orthorectified and georeferenced and will load directly into your GIS (Geographic Information System). Further, these images are provided at a lower cost than other options.

We provide custom images of the site you desire at the time you desire at a price you can afford. Further, the images we supply are not tied down with copyrights so you can make as many copies as you need and send them anywhere you want without having to pay for additional copies. We are providing a service to acquire your images. Once they are delivered, you can decide what you want to do with your images. We are not an image bank that sells photographs taken in the past. There are plenty of sources for historical photos or historical satellite images.

Our cost-saving approach to performing this service is to implement our own design of a digital imaging system using automation as much as possible. Our system, the Automated Aerial Remote Information System (AARIS), has been evolving for over 6 years as various requirements are presented to us. In each case, we evaluated the specifications and determined if AARIS could be modified to provide the required images within the required cost.

From our initial project (slides of mine sites), AARIS has evolved to provide direct georeferenced digital images of any type of site, as well as images along a defined ground track (such as a stream). We will continue to seek out the types of projects where we can optimize AARIS to provide images at the required accuracy at the lowest possible cost.

Company History

Our initial company, Embedded Systems Research, was started in 1980 to provide custom electronic instrumentation. Over the years, we created systems for the world's deepest diving submarine, a multitude of data acquisition systems, and even systems for space vehicles. In 1997, we developed a system to take images of the ocean's surface from an aircraft that included components that could remove the motion of the aircraft. Soon after, we were approached to provide finished images instead of the system to acquire the images. A review of the requirements and the potential for other imaging projects led us to develop our own image-acquisition system and create Eagle Digital Imaging, Inc.

Imaging Effort Chronology

1980 - Started Embedded Systems Research

1997 - Obtained first contract to develop an airborne imaging system

1998 - Began delivering mine reclamation images

1999 - Began delivering stream images for riparian research

1999 - Began to deliver digital images (scanned from 35-mm film)

2002 - Began to deliver digital images from a digital camera

2003 - Began to deliver direct georeferenced GIS-ready images

2005 - Spun-off Eagle Digital Imaging, Inc.

2006 - Added infrared to our image capabilities

2007 - Created EagleView for Precision Agriculture

We have two aircraft at this time. We use Mooney aircraft which are among the most efficient single engine aircraft. We designed our system to fit within these aircraft to help keep the costs as low as possible. Our range is from Canada to Los Angeles, CA and from the Pacific Ocean to Billings, MT in a single day. On larger projects further away, we can cover all of the western states with multi-day trips.
